McCownGordon Construction promotes two key leaders
Sheri Johnson named Senior Vice President of Marketing and Luke Deets Promoted to Vice President, K-12
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (January 12, 2020) – McCownGordon Construction promoted two key leaders as the company continues to grow and expand in the Midwest region. Sheri Johnson moved into a newly created role as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Luke Deets, who directs the company’s K-12 work in Kansas City was named a Vice President.
“McCownGordon continues to grow and deliver on our long-term strategic plan,” said Ramin Cherafat, chief executive officer of McCownGordon. “These promotions are a great reflection of our team expanding and positioning our company for the future. The most important component of successfully achieving our goals is for our Leadership Team to help our associates grow and take great care of our customers.”
Johnson joined the firm in 2018 as Vice President, Marketing and directed the rollout of the company’s new branding in 2019. In addition to leading the marketing team that plays a key role in winning work, she handles corporate marketing and leads the company’s internal communications and customer experience programs, and serves on the company’s Leadership Team. Johnson was a Kansas City Business Journal Women Who Mean Business honoree in 2017 and serves on the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Women’s Leadership Council. She also serves on the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City board of directors, as well as the boards of MoKaN Goodwill and Advent Health South Overland Park Hospital.
Deets played an instrumental role in growing McCownGordon’s K-12 market, where he leads of team of more than 100 associates specializing in building K-12 learning environments. He currently oversees significant construction projects for Pembroke Hill, North Kansas City Schools, as well as the Blue Valley, Lawrence, Lee’s Summit and Tonganoxie school districts, among others. He has been with the firm for more than a decade. Deets serves on the board of the Association for Learning Environments and is also the board president of the National Institute for Construction Excellence.
