The 16,000 SF station features four bays with radiant heat in the apparatus bay, providing a comfortable and durable environment for firefighters. Serving the Central District, the station is located in a residential area near a school. Consequently, the McCownGordon team worked closely with the owner to maximize the safety of the neighboring residents.
Our team collaborated with SFS and the owner to review an extensive list of cost options while staying on course with the preconstruction timeline. To maximize the budget, the McCownGordon | SFS team joined forces with consultants, expert matter vendors and trade partners to propose solutions and plan ahead for any potential challenges that may arise such as mitigating the current market conditions.
The main goals of this project were to increase the facility’s functional abilities and prioritize the health of first responders. After completion in 2023, the project finished within budget and on time featuring additional bays, 24-hour living quarters, sleeping quarters, offices, and a kitchen. Our close collaboration and extensive early involvement assisted the team in making informed choices and allowing the schedule to progress as planned.
