The 2020 bond program focused on addressing deferred maintenance needs, including parking lot repairs at thirteen schools and partial roof replacements at five elementary schools. Additionally, five schools underwent renovations to enhance their appearance and functionality, including two new high school football stadiums that were constructed at Oak Park and Winnetonka.
The remaining portion of the bond supported the construction of several new schools, including Maplewood Elementary and Davidson Elementary, and the conversion of an old grocery store into an Early Education Center, which catered to preschoolers across the district. Staley High School also was significant, building on additions for their gym and existing classrooms.
Strategically Phased Approach
To effectively coordinate all 16 projects, the team was dynamic in their approach. Part of the bond was executed simultaneously to meet the district’s budget and schedule, while other portions had a phased approach. The phased strategy allowed trade partners and our team to transition seamlessly from one project site to another as each project was completed.
This bond program guided the district towards outcomes that benefited students, faculty and overall community. McCownGordon’s collaboration and partnership with NKC Schools further strengthened when the team was chosen once again for their next bond in 2022.
